Obituary for M. Jane Irving

BREWER and BANGOR - M. Jane Irving, 66, died August 23, 2013 unexpectedly with her loving family by her side. She was born February 20, 1947 in Waterville, the daughter of Dorothy (Drouin) Roy and Jerome Roy and was a graduate of Waterville High School.
Jane worked in many capacities at Bangor Savings Bank over the past 36 years. Hired in 1978 as a Loan Interviewer in the Mortgage Department, Jane quickly broadened her influence in serving customers and developing her banking knowledge by becoming the Hogan Road Branch Manager that same year. Later moving to the Brewer Branch in 1981, Jane’s leadership was recognized first by her corporate promotion to Assistant Vice President in 1983 and then to Vice President in 1985 when she became Regional Vice President in Branch Administration. Her current position was as Senior Vice President of the Mortgage Development Group. In that capacity, she was an ambassador both within and outside the bank. To say Jane was an active member of the community is an understatement. Over the years she was active and supportive of many local agencies. At present, she was acting as the current chair of the Bangor Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Bangor Breakfast Rotary and a member of the Board of Trustees at Acadia Hospital. Jane was enthusiastic, straight forward, fun, diplomatic and professional in all her dealings. Anyone who knew Jane knew that she was always impeccably dressed with everything matching stylishly and appropriately. Although diminutive in stature Jane’s presence was immeasurable.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dana L. Irving and her brother James A. Roy. Jane is survived by her beloved daughter Kellie J. Irving and her partner Oliver Davis and their twin children Eli Bunker Irving-Davis and Dahlia Jane Irving-Davis. Jane’s grandchildren brought her much joy. She is also survived by her significant other Paul Miragliuolo, and her siblings David Roy, Theresa and Paul Pellerin and Patrick Roy.
A memorial service will be held in her honor 1pm Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor with Dr. David J. Roy, Jane’s brother, presiding. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor. Those who wish to remember Jane in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Mabel Wadsworth Women’s Health Center, 700 Mt. Hope Avenue # 420, Bangor, ME 04401 or to Maine Medical Center – Palliative Care Program c/o Development Office, 22 Bramhall Street, Portland, ME 04102.
