Obituary for Evelyn Clark Goodridge

Evelyn C. Goodridge, 89, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2014 at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born March 20, 1925, in Glenburn, the daughter of John and Mary (Craig) Clark.

Evelyn was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Tuscan Chapter #148. She was also an active member of the Essex Street Baptist Church in Bangor. After the death of her husband, Harry, Evelyn became a volunteer with the Eastern Area Agency on Aging. For 20 years she attended school regularly listening and reading to students at Fruit Street School. She looked forward to the start of each new school year and this unique volunteer opportunity. Evelyn was nominated for a volunteer award through Channel 2, WLBZ. Evelyn was a full time wife and mother for most of her life; she enjoyed spending time with her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children; Sylvia Chamberlin and husband Bob, Margaret Gallop and companion Rich, Donald Goodridge and wife Linda, Linda Fennelly and husband Bill; a sister, Dorothy Overlock; two brothers, Norman Clark and wife Carmen, Spurgeon Clark and wife Kay; thirteen grandchildren; cherished great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harry B. Goodridge, a brother John Clark, and a grandson Jimmy Douglas.

Friends may call from 12 Noon to 1 PM, Monday, September 22, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, where funeral services will be held at 1 PM. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, following the interment.
