Obituary for Timothy Allen Stark

TIMOTHY ALLEN STARK – DEDHAM, MAINE, NAPLES, FL - Formerly of Westford, VT
Timothy Allen Stark, age 65, died of brain cancer at home on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, with his loving and devoted wife by his side. Born in Glens Falls, NY, on June 13, 1949, Tim was the fourth of nine children of John N. Stark, MD and Marian (Allen) Stark. Tim attended public school in Glens Falls, NY, and Waterbury, VT, and graduated from Harwood Union High School, Duxbury, VT. Tim joined the US Navy after high school and spent much of his tour of duty in the Pacific during the Viet Nam conflict, stationed at Subic Bay, Philippines as well as California and Hawaii. Tim earned a degree in electronics at Arapahoe Community College near Denver, CO. Tim applied his knowledge through 32 years of employment with IBM, Essex, VT.
On Sept. 8, 1992, Tim married Vanessa Allen of Southwest Harbor, ME, who survives her husband. In addition to his beloved wife, Tim leaves eight siblings, Ben Stark and Barb Cady of Westford, VT; John S. Stark and Cher Rinder of Middlebury, VT; Jeff Stark of Westford, VT; Bill and Suzanne Stark of Frisco, NC; Carma Stark and Bill Tuthill of Westford, VT; Karen and Bill Torrey of West Bolton, VT; Amy Stark and Jeff Maynes of Huntington, VT; Holly Stark and Bryan Carson of East Middlebury, VT; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins .
Tim and Vanessa lived in Westford, VT, for many years where they had built a house on the Stark family farm. One of the simple joys of his life was stopping to have coffee with his mother early every morning on his way to work. When Tim retired from IBM in 2012, he and Vanessa moved to Naples, FL, and summered on a beautiful lake in Dedham, ME. They spent years together riding their horses with their friends and traveling together. An avid reader and bike rider, Tim was kind-hearted, quick to laugh, and a gentle soul who was deeply loved and appreciated by his family and friends. His siblings remember the many family trips together as children, crossing the country in a motor home, being chased by a bear at Yellowstone, jumping into freezing cold water of a mountain stream, visiting the remote family camp at Woodhull Lake, NY, and tenting under Dad’s parachute in the many camping trips along the Atlantic coast.
The family wants to thank New Hope Hospice for their excellent care.
A celebration of Tim’s life will be held at the United Church of Westford, VT, on Saturday, October 4, at 11:00 am, with refreshments and a chance to share memories to follow at the Brick Meeting House in Westford.
A graveside service will be held 1 PM, Sunday, October 12, at Mt. Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tim's memory to New Hope Hospice, P.O. Box 70, Eddington, ME 04428
