Obituary for Robert Emerson Purvis

Robert E. Purvis, 78, husband of Marianne (Carnrick) Purvis, died at his home after a brief battle with cancer on October 17, 2014. He was born March 18, 1936 in Carmel, the son of Harold R. and Ruth P. (Ross) Purvis.

Bob served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and was employed as a carpenter for many years before becoming a shuttle driver for Hertz. He was a life member of the Bangor Lodge of Elks #244.

In addition to his wife, Marianne, he is survived by a son, William of Bangor and two daughters, Madeline Paulson and her fiancé Anthony Asuncion of Arizona, Patricia St. Peter and her husband, David of Glenburn; three grandsons, Matthew and Benjamin St. Peter of Waldoboro and JT Paulson of Arizona; two brothers, Everett and his wife, May, Richard and his wife, Ruth; two sisters, Helen Cannon and her husband, Del, Sharon Briggs and her husband, Dean; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Williams.

Private services will be held at a later date. Those who wish to remember Bob in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Elks Major Fund Raising Campaign, Maine Children’s Cancer Program, care of Bangor Lodge of Elks, 108 Odlin Road, Bangor, ME 04401-6704.
