Helen L.  Higgins
Helen L. Higgins, 100, died October 21, 2014, at Westgate Manor in Bangor. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island, January 28, 1914, the daughter of Ernest and Blanch (Longbottom) Graves.

Helen was employed by the Ross Manor, Ohio Street, for over seventeen years. She was the proud holder of the "Levant Cane" which is awarded to the oldest citizen living in Levant. Helen's major past time enjoyment was writing family related Poetry. She was a member of the Levant Village Baptist Church now named the Harvest Chapel, a +50 year member of Minerva Grange No. 383 of Levant, an awarded life-time member, and past Matron of Jonathan Hunt Chapter #9 OES in Hermon Maine, and a member of the Levant History Club.

Helen was married for 58 years to Leland M (Red) Higgins, who predeceased her in 1993. Surviving are a beloved son Richard L Higgins and wife Mildred of Lady Lake, Florida; three grandsons, Stephen and James of Raleigh NC, and Robert of Nashua NH.; four great-grandsons, Gregory, Benjamin and Alex of Raleigh, NC, and Geoffrey of Nashua NH., great-great granddaughter Mallorie, of Raleigh, NC; great- great grandson, Jacob of Raleigh; and a brother Ronald of Wisconsin.

Friends may call from 10-11 AM, Tues, Oct. 28, at Brookings - Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM with Pastor Jerry Wright, pastor of Harvest Chapel, officiating.
