Thelma Marcia  Chandler
Hermon – Thelma M. Chandler, 89, died peacefully after a brief illness December 8, 2014, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born in Greenfield Park, Montreal, P.Q. February 19, 1925, the daughter of Theodore and Ethel (Wilson) Mitchell. She was a graduate of the Royal George School and Business College.

Thelma married Glendon Chandler in April of 1949. The newly married couple lived in Lubec where Thelma was employed at the Bar Harbor Bank of Lubec. Later she and Glendon moved to Bangor where they resided on Larkin Street for many years. Thelma was employed by the Bangor School Department where she was a noon aide at the Vine Street School for a number of years prior to her retirement.

Thelma thoroughly enjoyed the many summers at the family cottage on Pushaw Lake. She had numerous friends with whom she enjoyed many evenings playing cards. Thelma attended Grace Methodist Church in Bangor, and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society.

In addition to her parents and her husband who died in 2012, Thelma was predeceased by her 3 brothers. She is survived by her two daughters, Lois Chandler-Cousins and husband Ron of Elizabethtown, KY, and Lynn Chandler of Glenburn.

Funeral services will be held 11AM, Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with Pastor Gretchen Casey officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Hermon. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
