Obituary for Galen Charles Wiggin

Galen Charles Wiggin
Galen Charles Wiggin, 77, of Levant, passed away peacefully January 15, 2015, at his home in Levant with his loving wife and family around him after losing his battle with cancer. He was born in Kenduskeag, May 24, 1937, the son of Charles and Bernice (Ellis) Wiggin.
Galen lived 70 years of his life in the home his grandparents and parents lived in. At age 70, he had his son build a home less than a quarter of a mile away, where he passed away. Galen was married to Linda (Withee) Wiggin for 34 years.
Galen went to work at Bangor and Aroostook Railroad in 1955 at the age of 17, after having to leave Bangor High School to help with the family needs when his father passed away. He would sometimes mention that his mother had to give him written permission to go to work. Galen did many jobs with the Railroad and retired in 1997 after 42 years of service.
Galen loved the outdoors, spending many years working in the woods, fishing and hunting with his sons and friends. In his retirement, he and Linda enjoyed the flowers and plants they cared for around their Levant home.
Galen was predeceased by his parents and son, Scott, in 1982; a daughter, Maryellen Warman in 2009; and his brother, George Simpson. He is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, David and wife, Robin, Steven and his wife, Debbie, Keith and his wife, Pam, Kevin and his wife, Susan; grandchildren, Amanda and Jason, Ashley, Dustin and Monica, Chris and wife, Katie, Shannon and Jamey, Jason and Rachell, Jessie and husband, Ben, and Melisa, great grandchildren, Jillean, Caitlyn, Liam, Alexis, Carter, Cole, Logan, Kaydience and Asher; sisters, Joan Nilsen, Carolyn Lufkin and husband, Ben, and Agnes Maloon; sister in law, Glenda and her husband, Louis; and a special brother in law, Pete Withee and his wife, Jane; special friends, Mark and Robin Wellman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
