Bangor – Pollyanne Hewes, 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family and friends Saturday, January 17, 2015. Polly was born April 5, 1941 in Brewer, the daughter of Ferd C. and Rosalie P. (Hadley) Flagg.

She attended Bangor schools, and later graduated from Beal College, class of 1987, as valedictorian, with a degree in accounting. After her graduation she was offered a job at Beal College in the accounting department, eventually working her way up to CFO, where she continued to work until the time of her death.

Polly enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, knitting and crossword puzzles. Later in life she started traveling, and loved it. She was very actively involved in her grandchildren’s lives, never missing a game, meet, or a practice.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Rod Chelberg for the loving care that he gave to Polly.

She is survived by a daughter, Jill Ashe; 2 grandchildren, Cameron and Caitlin Ashe; a brother Douglas Flagg and wife Lorraine and their Adrian Flagg; a brother Kenny Flagg; special friends Allen and Diane Stehle; and was an honorary grandmother to their 3 children Marin, Sean, and Connor. In addition to her parents Pollyanne was predeceased by a son Jeff.

A memorial service celebrating Polly’s life will be held 10 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor, with Dr. Rod Chelberg officiating. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
