Obituary for James Michael Michaud

BANGOR - James Michael “Mike” Michaud, 66, passed away Monday night, March 16th, 2015, at the Maine VA Medical Center in Togus surrounded by family. He was born June 25th 1948 in Millinocket, Maine, the son of Henry Michaud Jr. and Helen Michaud. He will be deeply missed.
Mike graduated from Stearns High School, class of 1966. During his high school years he loved skiing and golfing. Following graduation, he served with the US Navy as an electronics technician during the Vietnam War. In 1975, he graduated the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelors of Science. Mike worked at Bath Iron Works as an electrician until 1980. He then worked at the United States Postal Service in the Eastern Maine Processing and Distribution Facility for 24 years until 2008 when he retired. He married Barbara Shane-Michaud in 1988, then divorced in 2009. Mike was a loyal member of the NRA and enjoyed fishing, target shooting, hunting, gardening and reading. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time up on Mt. Katahdin in his youth. He loved animals and our family pets over the years. He was a loving and caring father.
Mike is predeceased by his parents Helen and Henry Michaud. He is survived by his ex-wife Barbara Shane-Michaud and their three daughters: Hannah Michaud, 26, of Copenhagen, Denmark, Emily Michaud, 18, of Portland, and Maia Michaud, 16, of Bangor. Surviving in addition to his immediate family is his sister Paula Michaud.
Family and friends are welcomed to call 2-4pm, Monday, March 23, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held at 4pm. The family invites friends to share conversation and refreshments at the family’s home 1624 Union Street in Bangor following the service.
