Obituary for James Francis McDonald

BANGOR – James Francis McDonald, 93, died March 26, 2015 at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. He was born April 22, 1922 in Bangor, son of Charles and Mary (Towle) McDonald.

James was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He had been employed by the Bangor Fire Dept. four 24 years and enjoyed horse racing, fishing, camping, gardening and music.

James is survived by his sons, James F. McDonald Jr. of West Haven, CT and John C. McDonald and his wife, Linda of Bangor; grandson, Michael McDonald of West Haven, CT; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Theresa M. (Brooks) McDonald in 2011, three brothers and one sister. He was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Catherine McDonald.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 to 7pm Monday March 30, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held 10am Tuesday March 31, 2015 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio Street, Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. Those who wish to remember James in a special way may make gifts in his memory to St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 207 York Street, Bangor, ME 04401.
