Orono – Glenna D. Cornett, 86, passed away after a long illness June 22, 2015, at an Orono healthcare facility. She was born September 22, 1928, in Orono, the daughter of Herbert and Myra (Robinson) Hutchins.

Glenna grew up in Orono, graduating from Orono High School, class of 1946, and received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine, class of 1950. She married Homer C. Cornett in 1949 and settled into her life as a homemaker. She was a wonderful cook, specializing in baking all sorts of goodies. She enhanced her life by being a member of the Christian Women’s Club, Rainbow Girls, and the Orono United Methodist Church. She loved to go camping, reading, Artex, and Tri-chem. She will be remembered as being very loving and caring.

In addition to her parents and husband, Glenna was predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son Michael Cornett; daughter Dawna Cornett; and son Brian Cornett; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family from 10-11 AM Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Orono Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 72 Main St., Orono, where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM, with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Orono. Those who wish to remember Glenna in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 383 US Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
