Obituary for Frances May Hopkins

BANGOR - Frances (Fran) M. Hopkins, 93, passed away on June 29, 2015. She was born March 30, 1922 in St. John N.B. Canada, the daughter of Archie and Mabel Levensailor.

While raising her five children, she was a stay-at-home mom for many years. Much later she worked as a nursing assistant for four and-a-half years, after which she enrolled in the LPN nursing program at St. Joseph's Hospital, and worked in her profession until health problems forced her to retire in 1999. Besides her home and family, she found great pleasure in her vegetable and flower gardens, birds and other small creatures that were often found in her backyard, good books, cooking and canning, good friends, walking, music, her church, visits with her family, and her cats.

Surviving are four sons, Phillip and his wife Brenda, Terry and his wife Betty Lou, James and his wife Beth, and Jeffrey and his wife Sarah; two grandsons, David and Justin; six granddaughters, Jennifer and husband David, Dedra and her husband Jean Noel, Karen, Nichole and her husband Shannon, Jessica, Sarah, and a step-granddaughter April and her husband Anthony; three great-grandsons, Stephen, Kevin, and Hunter; seven great-granddaughters, Michelle, Taylor, Sophie, Oceana, Seaira, Khloe, and Kenna, plus her step-great-granddaughter Arabella. Other surviving family members are: her sister Pamela, sister-in-law Rose Marie, sister-in-law Linda, brother-in-law Arlo; many special nieces and nephews; and many close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest; her daughter Beverly; grandson Kevin; sisters, Daisy, Jean, and Gloria; brothers, George and Hudson; brother-in-law Mervel; and nieces Mary-Ann and Linda.

At her request, committal will be private for immediate family. She also asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to someone in need. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
