Obituary for Mary Patricia Mackintosh (Ferry)

Mary P. “Pat” Mackintosh died June 29, 2015. She was born July 4, 1924 in Bangor, the daughter of William H. and Roselle (Boardman) Ferry.

Pat graduated from John Bapst High School and attended Bangor Maine School of Commerce, now Husson University, and the Portland School of Fine Arts. She was employed by the New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. where she met her husband to be, Herbert Mackintosh. Pat was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Hampden. She enjoyed community involvement and served on the boards of Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, the Bangor-Brewer Tb & Health Association, the Bangor Humane Society and was a charter member of Symphony Women. Pat was also a volunteer for the Bangor Historical Society, Bangor Area Chamber of Commerce and the Bangor Art Society. She was a member of the Quipus, Chapter B PEO Sisterhood and a former member of the Penobscot Valley Country Club and the Bangor Tarratine Club. Pat had a lifelong interest in the Arts, was an avid reader and enjoyed the wonderful friendships in her bridge groups.

Pat was predeceased by a young son, Robbie, in 1969, her husband, J. Herbert Mackintosh, son, Peter S. Mackintosh and her brother-in-law, J. Donald Mackintosh. She is survived by her son, Jon A. Mackintosh of Bangor, two nieces, Lisa and Jamie Mackintosh, sister-in-law, Janet Mackintosh and two grandchildren, Sean and Erin Mackintosh of Bangor. The family wishes to thank Emily and Linda Willett for their love and support.

A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held 11 am Monday July 6, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. Those who wish to remember Pat in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401.
