Betty A. Cobb, 86 died peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long illness. She was born June 7, 1929, in Lisbon Falls, Maine, the daughter of George I. and Francis A. (Beal) McIntosh.

Betty graduated from Lisbon Falls High School. Following graduation she attended Pelletiers Beauty School in Portland, Maine. Betty was married to Wilfred Elton Cobb in 1949 and was a faithful Coast Guard wife for 30 years. With Bill, she was stationed all over the world, moving 22 times. Her favorite assignments were in London, England and the last assignment back in her beloved state of Maine, at Southwest Harbor where officer housing was the Bass Harbor Lighthouse.

Wherever she found herself, Betty quickly got involved in the community and formed a large circle of friends. She was a lifelong volunteer, feeding the hungry, caring for the aged, helping the sick, and faithfully manning the gift shop at St. Joseph’s hospital in Bangor every Thursday for more than 25 years.

Betty remained active throughout her life, participating in many groups including her craft club, clogging, and TOPS. She loved knitting and blessed family and friends with many handmade gifts.

Betty is survived by her son, Mark, of Dedham Maine, who faithfully cared for her during her illness, and his step-children Jeff McIntosh and Jane Venturelli; son Marty of Westmont, New Jersey, his wife Carol, and their children, Carolyn Tagmire, Jessica, and Marty, Jr.; son, Marlin, of Fortunes Rocks, Maine, his wife, Laura, and their sons, Joshua, Jeremiah, Jesse, and Jordan; and daughter, Marla Williams, of St. Augustine, Florida, her husband, Tom, and their son, Michael; several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, her beloved sister Beverly Joy McIntosh and brother Ernie McIntosh.

Betty was predeceased by her husband of 39 years and three brothers, Terry, Bruce, and Alvah.

There will be a gathering of friends and family at her house in Glenburn Saturday, July 18th. A graveside memorial will be held in August in Lisbon Falls, Maine.

Donations in honor of Betty may be made to Beacon Hospice who exceeded all expectations in caring and support.
