Orono – Mary Ann Violette, 97, died August 6, 2015, surrounded by loving family. She was born July 12, 1918, in Old Town, the daughter of Francis X. and Marie Ivy-Albina (Guitard) Gallant.

She married Harold Violette in 1940, and together they raised 6 children. Mary Ann was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orono for many years. She was also a member of the Orono Seniors Club. Mary Ann loved to knit and crochet items for her family and her friends. She will be remembered for her tremendous sense of humor, and her great capacity to love family and friends unconditionally.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband of 45 years; her son William Violette; and 8 siblings. She is survived by her children, Victoria Corey and husband John, Jean Breen and husband Tom, Mary Burns, Catherine Wiles, Betty Wickett and husband Richard; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a sister Hazel Corriveau; many nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
