Marie Sanford, passed away September 24, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor. She was born in Bangor, August 31, 1931, daughter of John C. Chase, Sr. and Grace E. (Humphrey) Chase.
Marie was a graduate of Hampden Academy, Class of 1949. She was employed with Sunshine Biscuit for many years. Marie was a member of the Bangor Grange #372, Penobscot Pomona Grange #8, and the Maine State Grange.
She was predeceased by, her parents, a daughter, Linda Sanford Foss, her husband Jerome F. Sanford of 64 years a sister, Marilyn (Chase) Tasker Carr, and two nephews, Christopher Chase and John C. Chase V.
Surviving are a sister, Barbara (Chase) Henry; a brother, John Chase, Jr.; a son-in-law, Harold Foss and his wife, Sheila; two special grandsons, Mitchell Foss and Matthew Foss and his wife, Ginny; two special great grandchildren, Sean and Abby; three nieces, Judy Hutzler, Grace Chase, Elizabeth Chase; two nephews, David Chase and Daniel Chase; several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Av., Hampden. Relatives and friends are invited to call noon until time of service, Wednesday. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Hampden.
