Obituary for James Michael Greer

Brewer - Jim Greer, 69, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2015. He was born in Augusta, Maine on February 25, 1946, son of Catherine Rebecca (Arey) and John Sterling Greer.

Jim was a hardworking, respected, and loving man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was an avid golfer. Jim graduated from Gorham High School, the University of Maine, and also served in the US Navy. He worked for many years for the City of Bangor in the Civil Engineering Dept.

He is survived by his two daughters: Kendall (Greer) Worden and her husband, Peter, and their son, Christopher, of Brewer and Dr. Jennifer (Greer) Lyons, her husband, William, and their children, Sarah, Kathleen, Margaret, and James, of Camas, Washington. Jim is also survived by his mother, Becky, of Gorham, oldest brother, John, and his wife, Pam, of Old Orchard Beach; sister, Dr. Nancy (Greer) Weiland and her husband, Dr. Andrew Weiland, of New York City; brother, Robert, and his wife Nancy, of Tallahassee, Florida; sister, Judy (Greer) Tenney, and her husband, Guy, of Bangor; and brother Tom, and his wife, Vicki, of Falmouth. He is survived by his brother in law, Michael Scanlin, and wife, Linda of Bangor, ME and Fort Myers, FL and his sister in law Stephanie (Scanlin) Copitts, and her husband, Allan, of New Hampshire and South Carolina. Jim has many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nancy; his father, John; and his brother, Charles.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 to 7pm, Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer where a funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, October 3, 2015 with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Reception Rooms in Brewer immediately following the service Saturday.
