Bangor
Dorothy (Silver) Serota, died October 4, 2015. She was born in Bangor, the daughter of Barney and Sarah (Goldberg) Silver. Dorothy was educated in Orono schools and graduated from the University of Maine with a bachelors’ degree in psychology.
After graduation, she sailed on the Queen Mary, to South Africa and spent a year with relatives. Dorothy was especially loved by her Beth Israel family, where she was a lifelong member of the Beth Israel Sisterhood and the synagogue Friendship Club. She was also a former member of the Order of Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jacob Serota, four brothers and one sister.
Surviving are a son, Michael Silver Serota and Terry, of Hudson; a daughter, Susan (Serota) Baron and her husband, Ronnie Baron, of Glenburn; a grandson, Brent of Bangor; several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to, Nancy, Janie, Reba, Terri, Arie and Donna, for their loving care of Dorothy.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center St. Bangor. Interment will be in Beth Israel Cemetery, Bangor.
Gifts in her memory may be sent to a charity of one’s choice.
