Obituary for Jules Edward Ouellette

BANGOR and OLD TOWN Jules Edward “Ed” Ouellette, 88, died peacefully after a short illness on 5 December 2015 at a Bangor hospital.
Ed was born in Old Town, Maine on 5 September 1927 the son of Jules E Ouellette and Marjorie (Perry) Ouellette and attended school in Old Town until high school when he attended John Bapst in Bangor. Ed joined the Air Force in 1951 where the majority of his military career was spent working on or teaching others about aircraft maintenance. Ed also had a private pilot’s license and was a licensed inspector of light aircraft. He worked for the City of Bangor for a number of years at their small aircraft repair station which he retired from. Ed was a member of the 101st Air Refueling Wing working in the Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron as a mechanic and later as a crew chief. He retired from the Air National Guard in 1987.

Ed enjoyed fishing and traveled to Canada a number of times with his brother and friends for some serious backwoods fishing. He enjoyed having family out to the camp and loved giving rides in his pontoon boat around Pushaw Lake. He traveled to many places with the military and as a civilian, having a thirst for discovery and learning about new places. He loved to talk about all the places he had been and “had it all on video”. He was a great story teller, sharing side-splitting stories of his childhood adventures. Above all he enjoyed spending time with family.

Ed is predeceased by his wife Irene Ouellette and his wife Gloria (St. Louis) Ouellette. He is survived by his son Steven and wife Natalie of Bradford, daughter Robin and husband Richard of Fort Myers, Florida, daughter Coral and husband Jim of Hermon, grandchildren Victoria and her husband Eric Petersoli of Lee, Massachusetts, Patrick and wife Lordina of Brewer, Danielle and husband Thomas of Santee, California, Sirena and husband Scott of Bangor, great grandchildren, Patrick “PJ”, Trevor, Ladonna, Mason, Caitlyn (deceased), Travis, Samantha, Kiana, and one great-great grandchild Vera. He is survived by his sisters Evelyn Desmond of Bath, Charlene Brooks of Eddington and Lois and husband Bill Hogan of Veazie.

A memorial Mass will be held at the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord Holy Family Church at 429 Main Street in Old Town, Maine on Saturday 12 December at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity. A gathering to celebrate Ed’s life will be held after the service at the Governor’s Restaurant on Stillwater Avenue.
