Obituary for Geraldine Eleanor Johnson

Geraldine Eleanor Johnson
Bangor - Geraldine Eleanor Johnson, 83, passed away peacefully January 4, 2016, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born February 16, 1932, in Brewer, the daughter of Leroy 0. and Eleanor M. (Adams) Pomroy.

Gerry grew up in the Bangor/Brewer area, leaving the area only when she met and married her first husband, Gayland Clewley. Because he worked for Shell Oil, they moved around a lot. Later, when things didn't work out, she moved back to the Bangor area with her small children, where she met Kenneth Johnson, whom she married in 1987; then began a long career in retail sales working for Freese's in downtown Bangor, then moving out to the Airport Mall, eventually winding up her career with TJ Maxx. Gerry loved to knit mittens and scarves for everyone. She was a volunteer at the Food Cupboard in Glenburn, and was passionate about playing Beano. She also was a member of the Eagles Club in Brewer.

In addition to her parents, Gerry was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Johnson in 2004; daughter Sherry Latham; and brother Bud Pomroy. She is survived by 2 sons, Terry Clewley and wife Bonnie, and Steven Clewley and wife Wendy; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ila Quirion; nephew Bud Pomroy and his family; and niece Polly Smith and her family.

A graveside service will be held in the spring.
