Ruth (Paine) Oakes, 78, passed away, after a long illness, January 15, 2016, at the home of her daughter, Rita.
She was born in Bangor, the daughter of Carleton and Frances (Rockovich) Paine.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Irving W. Oakes in 2002, and by her best friend, Eunette Robertson.
Ruth enjoyed reading, movies and her computer these last few years while she has been confined to her home.
She will be greatly missed by her family.
Surviving are her children, Wendell I. Oakes, Rita Spencer and her husband, John, Gail Murphy, and Bruce Oakes; grandchildren, Becky, Adam, Katie, Kelly, Steven, Brian, Melissa, Christyna and Brandon; 10 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of St. Joseph for their help and care of Ruth.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
