HOLDEN - Richard W. “Dick” Perry of Holden, Maine passed away peacefully on November 24, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on November 3, 1936 in Lynn, Massachusetts, the son of Carl R. and Hilda L. (Trygg) Perry.

Dick graduated from Lynn High School, in 1954. He enlisted in the Air Force where he served honorably 4 years active duty, and another 4 years in the Air Force Reserves. After leaving active duty he joined the San Angelo Texas Police Department before moving to Maine in 1965. In Maine, he worked as a salesman for Lubrication Engineers and Lubrical, companies based out of Texas. In 1979 he enlisted in the Army Reserve’s. During that time, he was instrumental in initiating the construction of the carousel at Willowbrook Museum Village in Newfield, Maine. He retired as Master Sergeant in 1993. Dick also served on the SAD 57 School Board, and was a constable in Limerick, Maine, before moving to Bangor.

Dick was a member of the Ralph J. Pollard Lodge #217 AF & AM of Orrington. He was a Shriner with Anah Temple in Bangor and entertained as a Shrine clown, known notably as “Raggs”. He also served as member on the SAD 63 School Board. Dick loved the outdoors and his dog Ollie. He was an avid hunter and a State of Maine Master Guide, guiding moose and bear hunters. Among his many successful hunting experiences, Dick held an undisputed Maine State and North American record for bobcat. When he wasn’t in the woods hunting, or at a secret fishing spot, you could find him in his garage fixing old cars.

Dick was predeceased by his parents. In addition to his wife and best friend, Cindy, he is survived by daughters Carla and husband Gary Bart of Bellaire, Michigan, Tracy and husband Jay Kelley of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and Sandy and husband Mark Levesque of Limerick, Maine; a son, Brandon and wife Jaimee Perry of Brewer; former wife Georgia (Kohutek) Perry; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, mother-in-law Marjorie Stewart; and several nieces and nephews

A memorial service will be held 1PM, Sunday, December 4, 2016, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, conducted by the officers and members of the Ralph J. Pollard Lodge #217 AF & AM, of Orrington. Interment will be private to the family.
