Obituary for Carol Lynne Gilbert
EDDINGTON – Carol Lynne (Larlee) Gilbert, 70, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2016 at Sky Ranch, Eddington. She was born December 1, 1945 in Bangor, the daughter of Dr. Clifford and Frances Larlee.
Carol graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1963, and attended the University of Maine, Orono. Throughout her life Carol was an accomplished artist. Her watercolors are enjoyed by many friends and relatives across the country. She was a strong swimmer for many years and was a member of the Bangor High Swim Team and the Synchronized Group, The Flamingos. Carol had a great love of music, reading and providing a home for rescue dogs. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, playing cribbage and cooking. Carol’s best times and memories were from her summer days at the family camp at Lucerne-in-Maine.
She is survived by a brother, Chip Larlee and companion, Sue Conant of Auburn, sister, Sandy Larlee, nephew, Todd Larlee and his wife, Heather, all of Cape Elizabeth; nephew, Nathan Larlee and his wife, Mary and children, Avaline, Oak and Iris of Northport; and her longtime friend, Marie McMillan of Hampden. In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Gilbert, II.
A memorial service will be held 1pm Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, Brewer immediately following the service Friday.
