Obituary for Edith Lord

Edith  Lord
Bangor – Edith (Hamm) Lord, 95, wife of 66 years to the late Lionel “Bus” Lord, died December 23, 2016 at a Bangor Health Care Center. She was born, August 7, 1921, in Smyrna Mills, the daughter of Joel and Mildred (Harper) Hamm.

Edith was a graduate of Merrill High School, Merrill, Maine. She attended Aroostook State Teachers College and graduated from the University of Maine, Class of 1964. She had been a teacher in the junior high school now middle school of Bangor. Edith was a member of Maine Teachers and National Education Associations, A.A.R.P, and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She will be remembered for her love of family and was an avid gardener that appreciated flowers and vegetables.

Surviving are her daughter, Prudence Searl and her husband, Stephen Magyorsi Jr., of Bangor; and son, Wellington Estey and his wife, Dora Mae, of Mount Dora, Fla; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers Donald Hamm and Lester Hamm.
The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice and Loving Touch in Home Care for their love, compassion and support.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor at a date and time to be announced.
