Obituary for Charles William Tuck

BANGOR – Charles William Tuck, 84, was called home by his Lord and Saviour December 27, 2016 at a local hospital. He was born May 21, 1932 in Stillwater, the son of Charles Orlan and Margaret Elizabeth (Gillispie) Tuck.

Bill was a graduate of Bangor High School, class of 1950 and had been employed by Footmans Dairy but was most proud of his service with the Bangor Fire Department from which he retired. He was a lifelong member of the Columbia Street Baptist Church which was the central focus of his life. He was Deacon Emeritus after many years of filling leadership positions with Adult Sunday School teaching, Youth programs and also served as President of the Church Body for several years. Bill’s compassion for mankind and the less fortunate was evident by his service to the Bangor Salvation Army. He was instrumental in the development of Camp Capella on Phillips Lake, also served on the board of the United Cerebral Palsy and was the recipient of the Jefferson Award for Outstanding Community Service.

Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Ethel (Craig) Tuck of Bangor; five sons, Mark Tuck and his wife, Suzanne of Bangor, Charles Tuck and his wife, Cynthia of Brewer, Rev. Thomas Tuck and his wife, Kathleen of Pittston, Stephen Tuck and his wife, Melissa of Topsham and Daniel Tuck and his wife, Bernardine of Franklin, NH; seventeen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace Ann Parker of Nokomis, FL; one brother, Richard “Dick” Tuck and his wife, Lorraine of Eddington; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 3pm Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Columbia Street Baptist Church, 63 Columbia Street, Bangor with the Rev. Thomas A. Tuck officiating. A reception will be held in the church immediately following the service. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date. Those who wish to remember Bill in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Memorial Funds of the Columbia Street Baptist Church.
