Obituary for Ernest William Grindle

Corinth– Ernest William Grindle, 74, died unexpectedly December 26, 2016. He was born December 10, 1942, in Orono, the son of Albert E. and Marjorie K. (Gellison) Grindle.

Ernie attended schools in Orono. Later he served his country in the U.S. Army. Ernie was ambitious and hard-working. He owned and operated two stores and a filling station in the Bangor/Brewer area, and later was a custodian at the Healthcare Mall. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed woodworking. Ernie was an avid Boston Celtics fan. He will be remembered as a loving father who was also a jokester.

In addition to his parents Ernie was predeceased by his wife, Mary; four brothers, George, Robert, Raymond, and Lawrence. He is survived by son John Grindle of Orono; daughters Belinda Moreshead of Baring Plantation and Rose St. Peter of Bradley; stepson Jerry Hayman of Veazie; stepdaughters Sue Antworth of Hermon and Lynn Umble of Alton; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring.
