HAMPDEN – It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Dwayne E. McLeod on December 31, 2016. He was 54. Dwayne was born February 4, 1962, in Bangor, the son of Edwin C. and Helen J. (Getchell) McLeod.

Dwayne graduated from Hampden Academy, class of 1981. Following graduation, Dwayne attended welding school in Maryland and then entered the workforce. He worked 20+ years at the University of Maine at Orono, in the IT department. Dwayne was an exceptional golfer, winning many golf tournaments in the area. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dwayne was an exceptional friend to everyone he met, who will be dearly missed by all family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a dear friend, Craig Moon. Surviving are a sister, Darlene Kenny and husband Greg; brother, Dave Bowler; niece Shawna Rogers and husband Ben, nephews, Matthew Kenny and Trey Kenny; dear friends, AnneMarie and David Messer, neighbor, Joyce Rankin, a pet cat, Mr. Papi, and many other friends, whom are too many to mention.

In keeping with Dwayne’s wishes, services will be private for the family. Those who wish to remember Dwayne in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
