Collin A. MacMillan, 18, passed away unexpectedly January 15, 2017. He was born April 2, 1998 in Bangor, Maine, the son of Sean MacMillan and Virginia Farrington MacMillan.

Collin grew up in Bangor’s Little City neighborhood where he enjoyed making stick forts in the woods near his grandparents’ house, playing in the park and being with friends. He was a member of the Bangor YMCA Barracudas swim team for 9 years and also swam for the Bangor HS swim team, where he was chosen Captain for his senior year. In his final high school swim meet, he swam the anchor freestyle leg in the 200 yard opening medley relay, winning first place at the opening event at the Class A state meet.

Along with swimming, Collin enjoyed playing Magic the Gathering with friends along with other gaming activities.

He was a freshman at UMaine in Orono, studying business. He had recently joined Alpha Delta Fraternity that operates “Bananas,” the UMaine mascot. Collin enjoyed being “Bananas,” having fun, and being friendly with all the fans. The family offers a special thanks to Alpha Delta.

Collin always had a loving smile and a great attitude and was helpful and considerate of others. He is an adored son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.

Collin is predeceased by his aunts, Heather MacMillan and Molly Farrington Bidstrup. He is survived by his loving parents and sister Ellie; grandparents Marie and Stanley MacMillan of Hampden, ME; grandparents Frank and Dare Farrington of Bangor, Maine; aunts and uncles Ann and Chan Reis of Hampton Falls, NH; Joan and Ted Guild of Cumberland, ME; Katherine Farrington of Beverly, MA; Peter Bidstrup of Marion, MA; cousins Franklin, William, Brett, Gage, Dare, Larsen, Isabel, Madlen, and Charlie; and countless friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 225 French St., Bangor, with The Rev. Marguerite A. H. Steadman, Rector, officiating.
