William “Bill” Laughlin, 76, went home to be with the Lord, January 23, 2017, at his home that he shared with the love of his life of 41 years. He was born, January 18, 1941, in Bangor, son of Percy and Helena (Kearns) Laughlin.
Bill grew up in the Bangor Area and graduated from Bangor High School in 1959. He spent a brief time in the United States Air Force. Bill was employed for ten years at the Eastern Corporation in Brewer and twenty eight years as a police officer with the Department of Public Safety University of Maine. He went on to serve ten years as Senior Deputy with the Hermon Police.
Bill touched the lives of everyone he came across. During his time policing in Hermon, the community was his number one focus. He loved all the kids he got the pleasure to know.
Bill was also a sports fan from the word go. He loved his Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. He took pride in his work as an athletic booster in Hermon and the people he was able to meet along the way. In recent years, he loved taking care of his home and spending time with all his family.
He is survived by his deeply cherished wife of 41 years, Connie; five children, Dana Laughlin of Carmel, Cheryl Watson and her husband, Chuck of Carmel, Laura Dill and her husband, Bruce of Stetson Amy Wilson and her husband, Frank of Etna, Tonya McDonald and her husband, Michael of Hermon ; his beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, Melissa, Christopher, Ashley, Josh, Charles, Lee-Anne, Naleea, Hunter and Adalynn; eight great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Francis Burnett, Robert, Ken, Tom and Eugene Laughlin; sisters, Marguerite Robillard, Marie Thurston and Joan Poole.
The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments, 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2017, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
