Alfred Lloyd  Smith
BANGOR - Alfred Lloyd Smith, 74, died January 17, 2017 at the Maine Veterans Home. He was born July 9, 1942 in Hallowell, Maine growing up in Castle Hill and Presque Isle Maine. He was the son of H. Everett and Geneva (Lint) Smith.

Alfred graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1961 where he was member of the Eastern Maine Championship basketball team. Following graduation he served in the US Army deploying to Germany and France from 1961 to 1967. After serving his country he returned to Mapleton working in the Presque Isle area for several years before moving to Bangor. Al lived and worked for almost 40 years in Bangor where he made many long term friends who enjoyed his wit, charm, and oh that smile.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Richard, Philip, and Russell. Surviving are his sister Phyllis “Milly” and husband Hartson Blackstone of Washburn, sister-in-law, Marguerite “Peg” (Katen) Smith Groves of Brewer, foster sister Esther Lyford of Cherryfield along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

There will be a celebration of Al’s life with his friends and family at Judy’s in Bangor at a later date. A graveside service with military honors will be held later in the spring at the Fairmont Cemetery, Presque Isle, with a time and date to be announced.
