Arthur A.  Day
Arthur “Artie” Day, 77, passed away unexpectedly January 26, 2017 at his home in Newburgh. He was born in Orrington, May 11, 1939, son of Alvin A. and Viola M. (Lanphier) Day.

Artie lived in Newburgh his entire life. Artie was a member of the Teamsters Union, and for years worked as a truck driver, retiring from APA Transport. His passion was collecting and working on old cars and trucks. He loved classic country music. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and loved to hear a good joke. He was instrumental in helping launch the career of Ricky Craven, of which he was very proud and loved to reminisce about.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Day; three brothers, Carleton Wing, Daniel Day, and Robert Day and wife Sondra; three children, Vicki Day-Young and husband Steve, Stephen Day and wife Karen, and Karen Day; step-daughter, Erica Nealley; very special sons-in-law, Jerry McAlpine, and Peter Mainguy; brothers-in-law, Aaron Tuttle, Eric Tuttle and his wife, Maureen; sisters-in-law, Wanda Moore, Lisa Goggins and her husband, Brian; grandchildren, Garret McAlpine and his wife Ashley, Kristen McAlpine, Skye Mainguy, Brandon Lilly and Parker Bas; many nieces and nephews, great granddaughter, Elizabeth McNutt, and very special friend, Tim Trenker.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick
Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A private committal service will be held in the Spring at Nealley’s Corner Cemetery, Hampden.

The family has requested donations, instead of flowers, be sent to EMHS Foundation, Cardiac Fund, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME. 04402-0931.
