Geraldine “Gerry” L. (Ross) Somers, 68, passed away peacefully at a Bangor hospital surrounded by her loving family on January 27, 2017. She was born March 28, 1948, in Levant the daughter of Eugene A. and Dorothy M. (Mayhew) Ross.

Gerry graduated from Hermon High School in the Class of 1966. In her early years she was a shoe stitcher for A. J. Tucker in Brewer and then worked as a cook at D & M Family Restaurant and then the Seafood Galley in Carmel. Gerry enjoyed spending time doing outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, but her real passion was spending time with her loving family.

Gerry was predeceased recently by her loving husband James “Jim” Somers on December 14, 2016.. She is survived by her children; Brent Somers and companion Kylie Barnett of Newburgh, Kendra Wainer and husband Joseph of Orland; grandchildren, Aspen Somers, Jason Wainer, and Kayla Buchanan; siblings, Bernice Overlock of Carmel, Virginia Overlock and husband Rodney of Newburgh, Cecil Ross and wife Mary of Levant, Darrell Ross of Hampden, Ronald Ross of Newburgh, Melvin Ross and wife Regina of Carmel, Sandy Turner of Newburgh and Gary Ross of Levant. In addition to her husband, Gerry is predeceased by both parents and eight siblings. A special thanks from her children goes out to sister-in-law, Nesta Ross for all the time spent with and caring for their mom.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 AM, Wed, Feb. 1, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. Friends are invited to gather with the family from 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the spring at Hill cemetery, Newburgh.
