Obituary for Walter Harris Cirone, Jr.

Walter Harris Cirone, Jr.
Topsham - Walter Harris Cirone Jr., 71, died peacefully at his home on Saturday January 28, 2017. He was born August 10, 1945, in Winthrop, Massachusetts, the son of Walter Sr. and Dorothy Cirone.

Lefty was a graduate of Harrington High School, class of 1963, where he perfected the “set shot” on the Harrington basketball team. Mr. Cirone served in the United States Air Force as a missile mechanic until 1967, whereupon he enrolled in Husson College where he would receive a Bachelor’s degree in Business. The entrepreneurial passion he learned there would propel him to start several businesses, including an accounting company, a real estate firm, a computer retail store, and a local Quiznos. With Susan Crane, he fathered two sons who he watched grow into men along with his loving wife Joan. He enjoyed watching old detective movies, New England Patriots football, where he served as offensive coach from the comfort of his leather recliner, and relating stories of his adventurous youth to friends and family.

Lefty is survived by his devoted wife, Joan R. Cirone; his eldest son, Brian Walter Cirone, his wife Jane, and their children Riley and Sidney; his youngest son, Kevin J. Cirone, and his wife Shonna; and his step son, Java Imhoff, his wife Charleen, and their son Nathan.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., following the service.
