Obituary for Douglas MacArthur Tasker

BANGOR – Doug M. Tasker, 73, passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2017, at his residence. He was born September 29, 1943, in Dexter, the son of Montford and Marjorie (Stevens) Judkins.

Doug attended school at Dexter High School. Following high school, he was employed at Snowflake Canning Company in Corrina, then Edwards Company in Pittsfield, proceeded by being a proprietor of several “Mom and Pop Stores” in the Pittsfield and Bangor areas. Prior to passing, Doug worked at Family Dollar in Bangor, where he had been for 11 years. He enjoyed his vehicles, gardening around the house, home barbeques, and decorating for the holidays. Doug had a strong passion for the Red Sox and the Patriots. He was a very loving and caring person to his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Auril Tasker, and friend, Richard Hatch. Surviving are daughters, Cheryl Cookson, Sharon Brooker; a son, Douglas M. Tasker II; brothers, Larry Dearborn, Larry Haughton; sisters, Amy Cote, Margie Powers, Charlene Judkins, Judi Bridges; close friends, Beverly Richardson, David Murray, Steve Parkhurst; neighbors, Pete and Pat; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are welcome to visit 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2017, with the Rev. Grace Bartlett, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service.
