Obituary for Darrell Kenneth Bragg

CARMEL – Darrell Kenneth Bragg, 72, died after an illness March 9, 2017, at a Bangor
hospital. He was born October 12, 1944 in Bangor, the son of Ralph Bragg and Pearl
(Purvis) Bragg.
Darrell grew up in Hermon and graduated from Hermon High School. He served
in the Army during the Vietnam war as an E5 sergeant and worked with the caisson. Darrell worked for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad for several years. He and his wife, Sheryl, bought Braggs Country Store in 1970 and successfully ran it for many years. After they sold it, they bought Pet Mart in Brewer and Newport which they owned and operated together for 5 years.
Later, Darrell worked for SAD #23 Carmel/ Levant, as a bus driver and janitor serving Carmel
and Levant Schools. Darrell and Sheryl loved being around horses. They had riding
horses, and for 12 years, owned race horses together. Darrell was a hardworking and
dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, and his wife, Sheryl, Darrell was predeceased by his brothers Everett and wife
Joyce, Wilson and wife Carolyn, and Robert.
He is survived by daughter Sherry Clapp, her husband Michael, and their children
Matthew and Elizabeth; son Darren Bragg, wife Melissa, and their 3 boys Jordan,
Daniel, and Wesley; and sisters Francis, Kathleen, Grace , Marie and several nephews and nieces, including Linda and Keith.
Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery, on Route 2 in Carmel, at a later
date and time to be announced, in the spring . Those who wish to remember Darrell in a special way may make gifts
