Obituary for William Kennard Reese

William Kennard  Reese
Veazie - William Kennard Reese, 79, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on April 2, 2017. He was born March 21, 1938, to Kennard and Elena Lorraine Reese in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Bill graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1956 and joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor when he met his wife, Mary Oakes. Mary and Bill married Aug. 1, 1959, and had five children: Alan, Barbara, Robert, Kennard, and Tony. After leaving the Air Force, he was employed at Bangor International Airport and retired in 1994.

Bill enjoyed fishing, spending time at camp, boating, hunting, woodworking, volunteering as a fire fighter, and was a fan of auto racing. He was a member of the Veazie Congregational Church. Bill was actively involved and past patron of Millwee Chapter No. 198 OES, member and past Master of Mechanics' Lodge #66 A.F. and A.M of Orono, Anah Shriners, Rainbow Dad, and Boy Scouts of America.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Marion Reese and Ardell Key. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; children Alan Reese and his wife Shelly of Kenduskeag, Barbara Nevells and her husband Mark of Carmel, Robert Reese and his wife Pamela of Wells, Ken Reese and his wife Kristie of Hampden, Tony Reese and his wife Tracy of Veazie; grandchildren Jennifer Greenier and her husband Zac, Alan Reese Jr., Jessica Freeman and her husband Ryan, Brent Andrews Jr., Dustin Nevells and his wife Kyra, Nicole Bagley and her husband Taylor, Abigail Reese, Mitchell Reese, Lucas Reese, Kaylie Reese and her husband Daniel, Jacob Reese, Nathaniel Reese, Connor Reese; great-grandchildren Addison Greenier, Emma Greenier, Natalee Freeman, Martin Freeman, Mason Bagley, Mya Bagley; nephew Frank Oakes, camp friends and extended family in Iowa. A special thank you to Stacy and the staff of Hospice of Eastern Maine for their kind and compassionate care of our dad.

A memorial service will be held at the Veazie Congregational Church at a time and date to be announced.
