Obituary for Ralph David Libby

Bangor – Ralph D. Libby, 61, died peacefully, April 12, 2017 at the Maine Veterans Hospital, Augusta. He was born September 4, 1955, in Westbrook, the son of Lloyd A. and Elvie S. (Garman) Libby.

Ralph was a graduate of Bonney Eagle High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he continued his education at University of Maine and Eastern Maine Community College. Ralph spent his last 19 years working with WBRC Architects and Engineers. He started with WBRC in 1998 as a drafter and ended his career there as the Senior CAD-BIM Specialist. This was a job Ralph truly loved. He was an active member of the parish community, Boy Scouts of America, a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Pine Cone Counsel #114, Bangor and Assembly #339. Ralph was also an avid and loyal Patriots and Red Sox fan.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by two sons, Jake and Corwin Libby and his step-mother, Shirley Libby. Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, D’Arcy (Davis) Libby; two sons, James Libby and his wife, Kayla Myers, of Veazie and Christian Libby of Kenduskeag; two grandchildren, Stanton (whom Ralph affectionately referred to as “Tinny”) and Sawyer (whom he lovingly referred to as his “Little Sweet Pea”); and his extended family, Justin and Angel Lyshon and children; God son, Connor Darling; three siblings, Margaret Tapley of Augusta, Ruth Erdman of Largo, FL and Mark Libby of Pittsfield, MA.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2017 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor where the members of the Knights of Columbus will hold a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor followed by the Rite of Committal with military honors at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the Parish Hall immediately following the Mass.
