Alfred Augustine  Dall
Brewer - Alfred A. Dall, 86, son of Lewis Augustine Dall and Josephine (Blackman) Dall and husband of Elizabeth Ann (Dougherty) Dall passed away after long and hard fought illnesses April 27, 2017.

Alfred, known as Al or Augie, was born on September 11, 1930 at home on Forest Avenue in Orono, Maine. He was one of eight children. The family later moved to Bennoch Road in Orono.

Al enlisted into the Marine Corps in 1948 and served until 1952. He is a Korean War Veteran having served there as a Sgt. 1951-1952. He remained a proud and loyal Marine throughout his life. He returned with other Korean Veterans to Korea in 1994.He has remembrance bricks dedicated for his service in the Bangor Korean Memorial and the Brewer Memorial.

Al was on the Orono Police Department 1952-1958 along with his brother
Walter. His Father Augustine was Chief of Police. He married Elizabeth (Betsey) Dougherty on September 1, 1956. They had five children and resided in Brewer, Me. first in the Dougherty homestead on Chamberlain St, and later on Eastern Avenue.
Al worked for New England Telephone from 1955 until his retirement in 1990. He also was a volunteer fireman on the Brewer Fire Dept. and worked for the Penobscot Sheriff’s Department and the Maine State Police Reserve with Donald Pushard for many years which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Al and Betsey ran and were involved with the Brewer Lassie League summers for many years. He was a member of the VFW, Brewer Fireman's Relief Association, Telephone Pioneers Organization and was one of the original BIA troop greeters. He kept in touch with many of the troops he met. He was a life member of the Marine Corp League and the 1st Marine Div. Association. He was also a life member of the Korean War Association and participated in the Korean division of many parades. Semper Fi. Al also loved to fish and hunt.

Al is survived by his children, Sharon and husband, Tom Gray, of Holden, Alan and wife, Doris, of Bangor, Diane of Bangor, Janet and husband, Ken Cobb, of Gladehill, VA and Maureen and husband, Greg Gilbert, of Gray; Six grandchildren, Tabatha (Dall) and husband, Rob Caso, Jennifer (Dall) and husband, Adam Mahaney, Dayna Duffey, Tiffany Gray, Amber Dall, and Cooper Gilbert; and three great-grandsons, Brendan and Tyler Mahaney and Dominic Caso.

Al also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins and their families especially a special nephew and buddy John Dall and his sons Josh and Cam who he was extremely close to and enjoyed. He leaves behind a sister, Mary Dall and two brothers, Louis and John Dall. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Betsey, sisters, Ella and Flora and brothers, Walter and Raymond.

The family wish to thank Zach Greenier PAC, Alma at the front desk and longtime friend Sue of Brewer Medical; Staff at the Ross Home, and specially the nurses, aides and techs at the Davita Dialysis Center of Bangor . Al was so liked there and thought the utmost best of them all. He always spoke of how special they were. He looked forward to seeing them on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and also friends Gary, Wally, Joe and Ron who he met there.

A graveside service with Military honors will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Woodlawn Cemetery, North Main Street, Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, immediately following the graveside service.
