Levant - Laura B. Fortin, 65, died May 21, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 22, 1951, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Morris and Maxine (Levin) Kenigsberg. Laura graduated from White Bear Lake High School (MN), class of 1969. She went on to graduate from St. Barnabas School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN in 1973. Laura received a Master's degree in Business from Husson College in 1996, then later earned her Bachelor's degree in Nursing. She was a long time nurse at Eastern Maine Medical Center at different levels. She was the Director of Nursing for several home health agencies, and retired from Davis Long Term group in Rockland. Laura enjoyed dogs, reading, playing games on her iPad, lobsters, and knitting. A highlight of her life was raising her granddaughter, Malayka. Laura will be remembered as a strong, intelligent woman who was very loving and caring. She would do anything for her family and loved ones. Laura was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Sam Fortin; two daughters, Courtney Fortin, and Kristen Wasilauskis and her husband Kevin; stepdaughter, Angela Brown; stepson Christopher Fortin; four grandchildren, Malayka, Landon, Aliyana, and Kemina; two sisters, Nancy Johansen and Jana Keeney; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Boo.
