Obituary for Donald Bryden Annis

Donald Bryden  Annis
BANGOR – Donald B. Annis, 92, passed away 6 pm June 1, 2017 at the Bangor Veterans’ Home. He was born June 18, 1924 in Concord, MA, the son of Margaret Patricia Gallagher and Harold Annis.

Donald joined the U.S. Army in 1943 and served overseas in England and France in the European Theater. He served in the 896 Sig Co Dep (AVN) as an Instrument Repairman. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the AR600-68 Meritorious Unit Award. Don was honorably discharged in 1945. Donald earned an Associate in Science in Business Degree from Husson College. Don worked for the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad from 1947 to 1984 when he retired as the Treasurer of the Railroad. Donald resided in Bangor for most of his life where he enjoyed many activities with friends and family. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing and hunting, also gardening, water sports and snow skiing. Don was a member the Bangor Kiwanis Club for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Janet Althea (Hoskins) Annis of Bangor, sons, David Harold Annis and his wife, Susan of Naples, FL, Donald Roy Annis and his wife, Diana of Norton, MA; daughter, Janet Patricia Annis of Otisfield, ME; five loving grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 to 7 pm Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor where a Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held 11 am, Friday, June 16, 2017. The family invites everyone to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor immediately following the Funeral Liturgy. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. Those who wish to remember Don in a special way may make gifts in his memory to CHCS Hospice and Counseling Services, 42 Cedar Street, Bangor, ME 04401.
