BANGOR - Anna (Hughes) McCloskey, 99, died peacefully on May 7, 2017. Born in Bangor on February 27, 1918, she was the daughter of Murty Francis and Myrtle Mae (Woodbury) Hughes. Anna was a model of humility, selflessness, and grace. Her writings were eloquent, poignant, and personal. Her energy, imagination, generosity, and love of life influenced many lives, young and old. She was a person of faith with a genuine care for others and an orientation to be a true servant of God. Anna will be remembered by her children, Edward L. McCloskey III, and Anna Jane Anderson; sister, Faith (Hughes) Fletcher; United Methodist Friends, co-workers of Bangor Mental Health Institute, and members of Women Are Veterans Too. A gathering to celebrate Anna's life will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, Friday, June 23, 2017 at 11AM with military honors. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at 10:45 AM at the Superintendent's Lodge, State Street entrance, Bangor. Following the service, the family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor.
