Obituary for Kathleen Francis Anderson (Willette)

ORONO – Kathleen “Kay” Francis (Willette) Anderson, 98, passed away July 19, 2017 in Bangor. She was born April 11, 1919 in Old Town, the daughter of George and Wilhelmina (Paradis) Willette.

Kay graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1937. She grew up during the Great Depression and came of age during World War II when she went to work in Washington DC while her husband served in the Marines overseas, a true example of the Greatest Generation. Kay married the love of her life, R. Deane Anderson, and together shared 72 years of marriage. She was a devout catholic, attending church at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orono for many years, where she was a member of the choir and volunteered at the church’s soup kitchen. Kay had a passion for New England sports teams, being a lifelong, devoted fan of both the Red Sox and Celtics. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and aunt who will be missed dearly by her family and all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Kay was predeceased by two brothers and six sisters. Surviving, in addition to her husband, R. Deane Anderson, are her sons, Ronald Anderson of Flanders, NJ, Darryl Anderson of St. Albans, and Earl Anderson of Newport; daughters, Deana Chase of Westbrook, and Randa Junkins of Mount Wolf, PA; five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial reception from 4-6 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Family Reception Center of Brooking-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at Brookings-Smith.com
