The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Debra Calderwood can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: Dear John and family,
We were so sorry to hear about Debra's passing. You probably don't remember, since it was so long ago, but we were neighbors at Otis Air Force base back in the 70's, for about 2 years. I was very young, shy, a new mom - and the one person I remember taking an interest in me was Debby. She was so kind, and she was already doing many things that I wanted to do someday - garden, own horses, be artistic (ceramics at that point), have many good friends, and be a great mom. I have thought of her so many times over the years as I've done all of these things, just wondering if she could ever have imagined what a positive influence she was to someone she knew for such a short time.
Our prayers are with you - may God bless you with the comfort that only He can provide.

Condolence: A life fully lived with family, community & her Creator with a caring heart and willing hands, selflessly filling the needs of those less fortunate, now an empty chair at the family table, but golden memories to cherish that will live forever in your hearts, greatly missed. "Well done, Good and Faithful Servant".

Condolence: Dear John and family,
We are sorry for your lose. I have fond memories of getting to know your family while I was on your farm and riding with Debra. I remember her as a laughing and strong woman. Let these memories lighten grief.

Condolence: My association with Debra was in my role as nursing instructor. Deb always went the extra mile to ensure that students had an excellent experience, whether at Bangor Mental Health Institute or at the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter. She loved to share her knowledge of psychiatric/mental health nursing and especially her expertise in dealing with the elderly, people with dementia, and people who were homeless. No matter how busy her day, she always found time to meet with the students and offer experiences that made a richer learning environment. In particular, she modeled what it meant to treat all people with dignity and respect. The students admired Deb and valued the time she gave them. I also noticed that her co-workers held her in the highest regard. When she was in charge of the unit they worked together in harmony. She was a wonderful blend of intelligence, common sense, and compassion.
