Obituary for Sally M. Jacques (Goodridge)

Sally M. Jacques (Goodridge)
BANGOR - Sally Marie Jacques (Goodridge), 72, of Bangor, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by friends and family, Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

Sally was a 1963 graduate of Bangor High School. A proud cheerleader, as well as hall monitor at Bangor High lead to Sally's off chance and unlikely meeting with a young man who would soon steal her heart, eventually marrying her, Robert Jacques. Upon graduation, the couple married a year later, and continued to happily share their lives together for nearly 53 years. Sally, being a contemporary woman of the times, began raising and caring for her own family, son Ryan. Sally took a very active role in her children's lives, whether that meant making it to a Cub Scout den meeting for her son, or by joining the P.T.A. council.

Sally devoted all her love and time to her family, trying to ensure their success. In her down time, Sally became an avid reader with particular interest in Stephen King's work, as well as becoming a self-proclaimed number one Elvis Presley fan. After successfully raising her children, Sally re-entered the workforce, retiring from Whited Ford after 15 years of service. After retiring, Sally and Bob took up many activities. The two would frequently venture down to their favorite relaxation spot, Bar Harbor, to either go kayaking, or just to spend quality time together, while enjoying the sights, food, and people They also were able to purchase a camper to pursue their love of the old 1960s hot rods they both shared while attending many different cars shows and professional drag racing events throughout the nation.

Predeceased by her husband, Robert Jacques; parents, Arthur and Myrtie Goodridge; and brothers, Arthur Jr. and Robert Goodridge, Sally is survived by her son, Ryan and wife, Jeanne, and grandsons, Matthew and Michael Jeane of Hermon; and sister, Carolyn Miller and fiance, R. Dale Nelson of Hampden.

A celebration of Sally's life will be held Wednesday, October 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, in Bangor.
