The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Richard Philippon can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

I was fortunate to be included in Tony's gang of friends from Bangor during the golden years of growing up. Everyone liked Tony, and for good reason. He was smart, unfailingly kind, very quick to laugh, including at himself, and was a central presence wherever he happened to be. Tony was also incredibly loyal to his friends, of which there were many; it was a group that only increased in size over time. The stories in which Tony was a starring cast member are many, but who can forget when he buried (and broke) his front tooth in Brian Braveman's forehead during a basketball game? Or when he liberated enormous pumpkins and left them as tributes of his friendship on his friends' porches? Or when he was a member of the Garland St. Jr. High Can-can dancer line with Alan Mathieu, Rich Kelsey, Jim Rudman, Mike Myatt and Jay Chason? Or when he was just being the really nice guy that he was? In short, Tony was the proverbial "good kid" who everyone has great memories of and he grew into the same kind of man. It is incredibly difficult to accept that the man who was once that tall, lanky, funny and very sweet teenager is gone. I cannot imagine the loss that Gail and their families are experiencing right now. My thoughts are with them.
