Marion Van Kleeck  Larson
Marion Louise Van Kleeck Larson, widow of the late Dr. Albert L. Larson, died at the age of 102 on November 21, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Ethel Gray Van Kleeck and George H. Van Kleeck. She was born in White Plains, NY on July 9, 1915, and lived in Avon and West Hartford, CT since 1944. She was a graduate of White Plains High School and Russell Sage College. Marion did postgraduate work in dietetics at Grasslands Hospital, now NY Medical Center, of Westchester County. She was a dietitian at the U. S. Marine Hospital, Stapleton, Staten Islands, NY, and the New York Medical Center. She was a member of the American Dietetic Association, Avon Congregational Church, Farmington Country Club, West Hartford Garden Club, and Women’s Golf League at Bel Compo. She was a former member of the Opera Guild, College Club, and a volunteer at the Hartford Hospital. She enjoyed flower arranging, was active in her church, and she especially enjoyed traveling with her husband across the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. She was also a leader for the Girl Scouts, Brownies, and Cub Scouts. She was proud of her Dutch ancestry, which she traced back to the early 1600s.

She is survived by two sons, Albert L. Larson, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Orono, ME; and George G. Larson and his wife, Joyce, of Derry, NH; and daughter, Carole Pratt and her husband, David, of Green Valley, AZ. She leaves eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her sister, Carole Jackson, predeceased her.

Also surviving are nieces, Susan Reid and her husband, Dr. Robert Reid, of Tampa, FL; Diane Fellenbaum and her husband, John, of Haymarket, VA; and nephew, Peter Jackson and his wife, Susan, of Great Falls, VA.

Marion’s grandchildren and great grandchildren are Jennifer Batron, husband Ken and their children Robbie, Katie, and Becca of Exeter, ME; Karl Larson, wife Melissa and their daughter Kayla, of Newburgh, ME; Eric Larson, wife Suzi and sons Ben and Josh of Pelham, NH; Scott Larson, wife Tina and their daughter Elizabeth of Bridgewater, MA; Sarah Ciuryla, husband Marcus and daughters Sage, Skyler, and Sloane of Sahuarita, AZ; William Pratt of Greenfield, MA; Gunnar Laro, wife Melinda and their children Chase, Darby, Macie, and Jada of South Sutton, NH, and Dustin Laro, wife, Tonya and their daughters Hailey and Danielle of North Pole, AK.

A private burial will take place at the Cider Brook Cemetery in Avon, CT.
