The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Wayne Heath can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

I am sorry to learn that Wayne has passed away. He was the MDOT to me. As a young engineer with MDOT, I was introduced to Wayne on the I-395 project between Bangor and Brewer in 1984. He, Herb Graves, Jim Hosmer, Ralph Emery, and John Costigan were the first people that I got to know. I helped Wayne a few times with Herb Graves doing surveying for different clients in the greater area. Wayne prized his old Subaru Brat and we went quite a bit in it with all the fishing ties mounted on the dashboard. I appreciated all of the worldly views that Wayne gave us and his general philosophy, "why retire at half pay when you can half work at full pay." Wayne was one of the smartest people that I ever met and he was very motivated when he wanted to be. He passed his professional engineer's license in 1987 after quite a bit of effort and he orchestrated a very elaborate study group to accomplish his goal. I can truly say that Wayne was one of my favorite people.
