Marceline Iris "Marcia" "Marcia"  Cook
BANGOR – Marceline Iris “Marcia” Cook, 86, died November 28, 2017, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born February 25, 1931, in Bangor, the daughter of Leona B. (Haley) and Stillman E. Buzzell. Marcia graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1948. She joined the Hammond Street Congregational Church in 1961. Although Marcia had various positions through her life, while raising her children, her primary roles were that of a homemaker and loving mother. After her three children graduated high school, she began working for the Eastern Area Agency on Aging, where she quickly rose to become Fiscal Manager and she held that position until retirement. Marcia loved to cook, try new recipes and she became quite well known by family and friends as an exceptional chef. Her deep faith and spirituality was also well known. However, her greatest accomplishment and passion in life was without question her selfless and always generous love, devotion, support and care for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters; Patricia Ashford, and Marilyn Schubert; brother, Stillman “Bud” Buzzell; and daughter, Sunshine “Cindy” Crate-Batchelder. Surviving are a sister, Marie Walton; brother, Dana Buzzell; nephew, Carroll Fahey; daughter, Ilana McCarthy, her son, Ryan, her husband, Dan and his children, Tara, and Jenna; Marcia’s son David Cook, his wife Tammy Crosby and David’s children, Chelsea, Miranda and Sarah; Sunshine’s children, Gabriel, Joshua and Nikayla; many other beloved great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial reception will be held 4-6 p.m., Saturday December 2, 2017, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Glenburn. Those who wish to remember Marcia in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Maine Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 383 U.S. Route One #2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
