Obituary for Rodney J. "Rod" Cyr

Rodney J. "Rod"  Cyr
Bangor - Rodney J. Cyr, 78, died unexpectedly December 8, 2017 at a Bangor Hospital. He was born on October 28, 1939, in Caribou, the son of Bertha and Joseph Cyr.

Rod graduated from Caribou High School, Class of 1958. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force. Rod married Judy Babcock Cyr, the love of his life, in 1987. They celebrated 30 years of marriage in February. Rod was retired from the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad after 37 years of service. He came out of retirement and enjoyed working for several additional years with his Bangor Auditorium “family”. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son David Cyr and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Judy Cyr, are his son, Matthew Cyr, son Michael and his wife Jennifer Cyr. He was adored by his step-children, Lisa Dunning and her husband, Robert, Tammy Babcock and her partner Dan Read, Norman and his wife Lori Babcock, Jamie and his wife Margaret Babcock. He was Bamps to an adoring crowd of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren included: Ashley and her husband Brian, Bryant, Shawn and his wife Erin, Cory and his wife Samantha, Morgan and her husband Michael, Thomas and his wife Ashley, Brittany and her partner Blaine, Connor, Jonathan and his partner Melanie, Brandon, Meghanne, Gabriel, Jack, Zachary, Jesse, Hannah, Cooper and Gunnar. His great-grandchildren are: Audrey, Brayden, Tucker, Parker, Emmalyn, Landon, Miyah, Karly, William, Dakota, Summer and Tanner. Rod will be missed by his brother and sister in-law, Wayne and Coralee LeVasseur; many nieces and nephews; and friends including special friends, Sonny and Sandy Lunt.
