Edward R. Rich, 84, passed away peacefully January 2, 2018, at a Brewer healthcare facility. He was born February 11, 1933, in Bangor, the son of George and Vera (Penelton) Rich.

Ed served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked for many years at Doug’s Shop & Save, and retired from Zayre’s Department Store. Ed enjoyed dancing and bowling and when he was younger was in a bowling league. Over the past several years he enjoyed his many friends at Chamberlain Place in Brewer.

Ed was recently predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Rachel H. Rich in December of 2017; and by a son, Stanley Rich in 2005. He is survived by a daughter, Carrie Honeman and husband Donald; four grandchildren, David Honeman, Emily Parker and husband Jefferson, Christopher Rich and wife Kayla, and Corey Rich; a great-granddaughter, Chloe Parker; and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the spring at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Gifts in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
